Welcome to the Big Five country! Our lovely guest house and restaurant is situated in the main capital of Mpumalanga, which means "the place where the sun rises". There is definitely not a better description for our lovely region. See our beautiful African bushveld, experience our abundance of wildlife, and meet the vibrant people staying here. You will understand very quickly why people can't wait to come back.
Our region is blessed with many natural wonders, and the most well-known tourist destination in South Africa, the Kruger National Park (a mere hour's drive from us). There are many private, regional and national reserves in our area. For the outdoor adventurist abseiling, microlighting, hang-gliding, ballooning, paragliding, river rafting, hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding, just to mention a few, are also offered.
If you like sport, you won't be disappointed. Our region is known for its excellent sporting events such as the Sasol Rally, Jock Cycle Tour, Jock Marathon & Daisy Mountain Bike Challenge. For the golf enthusiast, there are many well-known courses in the area.
The historians can enjoy Mpumalanga's diverse and colorful history shaped by the Ndebeles, Swazis, Shanganes, Pedis, Boers, Europeans, Asians, as well as the prospectors during the gold rush years.
Nelspruit is the perfect base from which to experience the area through day-drives, or organized tours. Nelspruit itself offers the visitor the opportunity to visit The Lowveld National Botanical Garden, a perfect place to get familiar with our fantastic ecosystem. A visit to the Croc River Enviro Park is a must, with exhibits ranging from a massive Reptile Gallery, Crocodile Pond, to a lovely petting farm where children can get all cuddly with our farm livestock. If you are feeling lucky, why not visit Emnotweni Casino, adjacent to our Riverside Shopping Mall. Less than 30 minutes outside Nelspruit you will also find the fantastic Sudwala Caves, and picturesque Kaapschehoop.
Barberton, often refered to as the "Jewel of the Lowveld", and known for its Barberton Daisies (Gerbera Jamesonii), offers many places of historical interest, and will give you a good insight into the gold-rush years of the region.
Besides the gold discovered in the area, what also makes Barberton unique, is the fact that it is surrounded by some of the oldest mountains in the world, the Makhonjwa Mountains.
Moçambique with its Arabic, Indian, Portuguese and African influences, and near untouched beauty, offers the tourist a variety of attractions.
The Panorama Route will take you through the beautiful towns of Hazyview, Graskop, Sabie, Pilgrim's Rest, and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon.
The route is filled with natural wonders, and each town has a lot to offer the tourist.
Swaziland, home to one of the three monarchies left in Africa, is a mere hour's drive from us and well worth a visit. The local arts and crafts markets throughout Swaziland is a firm favorite with tourists.
White River was originally established in 1904 as an irrigation farming scheme for unemployed British soldiers returning from the war.
Casterbridge Farm, just outside White River, is home to Barnyard Theatre, Casterbridge Cinema (our art circuit), and exhibitions of some of our best craftsman and artists.
